DAY ONE - Pick up at Da Nang airport and transfer to our hotel in Hoi An, a beautiful 2,000 year old UNESCO ancient old town. Evening dinner and an opportunity to get to know each other.

DAY TWO - Hoi An - 9am workshop for beginner and intermediate photographers (optional). Late afternoon - tour of Hoi An countryside and farmland for sunset shots.

DAY THREE - Hoi An - early morning photowalk of the ancient old town and market. After breakfast we will travel to Hue, another UNESCO world heritage site and the old imperial capital of Vietnam.  After 2.5 hours driving in minivan we arrive in Hue for lunch. After lunch we will visit a famous temple or tomb in the city.

DAY FOUR - Hue - Today we will visit Hue Imperial City, the former home of the Nguyen dynasty. We will also have the opportunity to work with a model dressed in an Aoi Dai (traditional Vietnamese dress).

DAY FIVE - Breakfast and morning flight to Hanoi, the capital of Vietnam. In the afternoon we will go on a photowalk in the charming and photogenic old quarter of the city.

DAY SIX - A relaxing day to yourself to catch-up on sleep, enjoy the swimming pool or spa in the hotel or to explore Hanoi on your own. For those who wish to continue photographing on this day, an itinerary will be set by the lead photographer.

DAY SEVEN - Hanoi - an early morning walk around Hoan Kiem Lake to photograph the fascinating lifestyle of the locals, including exercise, Chinese chess, walks over the red bridge and a myriad of other activity. After breakfast we will begin a six hour minivan trip to Sapa in the mountains of northern Vietnam, the home of a diverse range of local hill tribes, as well as stunning landscape scenery.

DAY EIGHT - We will spend the day exploring the hill tribe villages in and around Sapa.

DAY NINE - Early morning we drive to Heavens Gate, one of the highest mountain passes in Sapa before heading to Ha Giang in the extreme north of Vietnam. Ha Giang is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful and perfectly untouched and unspoilt regions in the country. The trip from Sapa to Ha Giang is approximately six hours in a minivan. All the mountain roads in Ha Giang are paved and are very safe to travel on.

 

DAY 10 Today we start day one of the Ha Giang loop and will visit the beautiful mountain town of Tam Son. There will be plenty of opportunities to stop for photos en-route as well as one or two other locations on our first day. We will spend the night in quiet town of Yen Minh.

DAY 11 On day two of the Ha Giang loop we will visit the Dong Van Karst Plateau UNESCO Global Geopark and take photos of the stunning scenery and people. We will spend the night in Don Van town.

DAY 12 On the last day of the Ha Giang loop, we will travel through the Ma Pi Leng Pass, the highest mountain pass in Vietnam. There will be ample opportunities to take photos of the breathtaking mountain views and scenery and local people. We will visit several villages and towns before spending the night in Dugia. 

DAY 13 After breakfast, we will travel back to Hanoi from Ha Giang (approximately five hours in minivan). Evening flight to Da Nang.

DAY 14 Check out of hotel at Da Nang at midday. This marks the end of the tour. Opportunity to spend a day on the beautiful Da Nang beach or to explore some of the beaches surrounding Hoi An before you embark on your onward travel.

Accommodation: Four star hotels where possible.

 

Price:  $3333 per person. No single room supplement.

 

Deposit: 25% of price to reserve space, remaining 75% three months in advance of trip.

 

Number of participants: Six people maximum.

 

Photography skill level: All skill levels. A workshop will be held on the first day for beginner and intermediate level photographers. 

 

What you will learn on this course: Manual control of your camera and mastering your settings, storytelling, composition, spotting a photographic opportunity, light and engaging subjects. 

Lead photographer: Nathan Jones.

 

Nathan will be joined by a couple of local people to help you get the best shots and angles when on location.
